Friends of the Orphans
Fr. Wasson Angels of Light Program: for vulnerable and displaced children permanently
cares for 180 children daily while an additional 700 children from the community attend the
onsite primary school.

Maternity and Neo-Natal Wards at St. Damien’s Hospital: cared for and delivered 4,799
babies. Neonatalogy gave life to 640 premature and endangered babies.

St. Helene in Kenscoff: opened their doors to over 60 new children.

St. Philomena Rehydration Center: assists those suffering from the recent Cholera
outbreak and provides lifesaving medical attention.

St. Germaine & Kay Elaine Rehabilitation Center: assisted 1,500 adults and children.

Cancer Center: served 140 children providing them a second chance in a country where
cancer is a death sentence.

Public Health Services: reached 20,000 people still living in deplorable condition in the tent
cities.

Employment: more than 1,600 jobs are provided with each person supporting a family of four.

General assistance: 3,000 bags of rice weighing 25 kilograms each; 852,000 bread units;
199, 000 packages of pasta; 1,728 trucks of water; thousands of burials, too many to count;
thousands of cement blocks to make homes and cobblestone to build roads.

Friends of the Orphans prides itself in meeting all 20 of the Better Business Bureau’s standards for
charity and accountability. Over the last 3 years, 88% of our resources were spent on programs.
Under the watchful eyes of physician and priest Fr. Rick Frechette, the
continually growing mission. Today, that mission now encompasses
two new orphanages, St. Damien's Premier Pediatric Hospital, the
establishment of new schools, child protection camps, outreach and
Cholera medical clinics, and emergency response programs. Since

In addition to NPH/NPFS already broad footprint in Haiti, additional
programs established in direct response to the earthquake and made
possible through funding from support including the previous Irish
Hearts for Haiti event in 2011 are:
Friends of the Orphans, which supports Nuestros Pequenos
Hermanos/Nos Petit Freres et Soeurs (NPH/NPFS, Spanish and French
for 'Our Little Brothers and Sisters' has helped orphaned and abandoned
children in Haiti since 1987. NPH/NPFS is home to 350+ children,
supports 240+ children externally and assists more than 30,000 Haitians
each year in medical needs, food, water, education, and assistance for the
disabled community. Led my Father Philip Cleary, President of NPH
International, and with the support of FRIENDS, NPH/NPFS has
rescued and raised nearly 17,000 boys and girls throughout Latin America
and the Caribbean.
